No Thanks to Philly Energy Hub: Weekend Events Jan 16 – 18th

Happy Friday, readers!

Now that we’ve assessed if Philly really is the greenest city, launched a benchmarking tool and tried to give away all of our possessions on Facebook, it feels like we could all use a bourbon. Right? (We also snuck into No thanks! for the Philly Energy Hub in Citified, so check that out if you haven’t yet.)

Don’t worry, friends. We got the best events of the weekend lined up for you. But if you have off of work on Monday, do us a favor and do something good for the community. Deal? Deal.

Weekend events for January 16 -18, 2015:

  • Owl Prowl: Take an evening stroll to listen to elusive hoots of the owl at the Schuylkill Center. Before walking under the stars, you’ll have a chance to meet our rehabilitated screech and great horned owls, and learn about these incredible creatures. Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, 8480 Hagy’s Mill Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128, January 17 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, $10, Register.
  • Kidical Mass Philadelphia Streetfilms Viewing Party: Meet community members at this family friendly event. 35 minutes of films are lined up, focusing on biking, walking, kids, school, and protected infrastructure. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 5:00 PM, Smith Playground (in the Playhouse) 3500 Reservoir Dr, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19121, Facebook RSVP.
  • Starting Seeds & Getting Ready for Spring. Even though it’s only January, it’s not too early to think about Spring – and your planting. This workshop with PHS also gives you a take-home seed kit, too!  Jan 17, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM, PHS Town Hall, 100 North 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA,  $25, Register.
  • Philly Family School & Camp Fair: Hosted by The Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Family School & Camp Fairs helps parents learn about schools, camps & programs right in your neighborhood. Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, The Franklin Institute, 222 N 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, Free, Register.
  • Mudras & Mimosas on the Moshulu: Every Sunday morning, there’s a yoga class on the Moshulu ($5), followed up by a brunch buffet ($25). (Thanks to Be Well Philly for the heads up!) Every Sunday at 9:30 a.m.; The Moshulu, 401 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philly. Facebook page.
