I'll admit it. I wanted to be 'greener' a few years ago, so I cut out dryer sheets from my laundry. Instead, I found those small, spikey "blue balls" at the dollar store that were reusable to soften my clothes. They even claimed to reduce my drying time, saving me dolla' bills for the clothes drying machine. What I didn't know? Let's be real: It's essential to get our youth on board with sustainability. We're psyched to see a Philadelphia school taking action and getting recognized for it! Albert M. Greenfield Elementary School received the national Green Ribbon Schools Award from the US Dept of Education for increasing its environmental awareness, health & wellness. We celebrate our "Earth Day" every day, but today gives us an opportunity to reflect on what Earth Day means to those around our city. Philadelphia has thousands of amazing individuals working to help us achieve cleaner air, water, transit and healthier food options. In honor of this green holiday, we asked a few local individuals what Earth Day means to them:

Philly Farm & Food Fest is coming to the Convention Center today with hundreds of local farmers, food vendors & artisans. Although thousands in our region will gain new insights and discover new tastes, they're not the only ones who will benefit. Marilyn Anthony is Eastern Regional Director for the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), a member-based nonprofit organization.
