What a week! After the Mayor's Office of Sustainability became permanent, Mayor Nutter topped off the excitement by creating a Philadelphia Bicycle Advocacy Board to make our city more bike friendly. Whoa! And have you snagged a ticket to the Green Philly/Nexus Big Green Party yet? Want to talk healthcare, higher education, and sustainability? The Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC) is hosting an upcoming summit for sustainable "Eds & Meds" development to find financial resources. And free breakfast! DVGBC and St. Joseph’s University Real Estate and Construction Alumni are hosting their 2nd Healthcare & Higher Education Summit focused on Incentives & Financial Resources for Sustainability. Whether you’ve heard about how awesome or wasteful the new Riverbank Schuylkill Boardwalk is, have you taken the trudge down to the River? If you’re an avid jogger or walker, you were most likely one of the first to cross the entire path.  But many Philadelphians have been wondering what it would do for the city.  Is it worth the $18 million and 3 years spent on its planning and construction?  Some have even gone as far as to call it Philly’s “newest playground for the rich,” which may be a dramatic embellishment...but it’s a fair opinion. You guys totally did it! According to Philly.com, Philadelphia voters approved all 3 ballot questions on the polls yesterday, including the question that made the Mayor's Office of Sustainability permanent. This means the Office will live on for years, even after Mayor Nutter leaves office in Jan 2016 & his green-loving legacy behind. Find out more, after the jump!

Happy Halloween! The future of Philadelphia doesn't have to be as spooky as today’s holiday: Our friends around the web helped us imagine future possibilities our city can flourish. This week, we realized just how much business the PHS Pop Up Garden brought to South Street West as the space evolved over the previous 4 years. Could you imagine a pedestrian street in Market East? Or even a family-friendly Philadelphia? And the way bike commuting continues to go up, can we expect less cars on the road? Now back to reality.
