Donate to Taller Puertorriqueño’s Thanksgiving Drive
Before you give thanks, give back — and donate clothes and food to those in need.
Taller Puertorriqueño is accepting contributions for its soup kitchen and clothing drive on Nov. 21 (the day before Thanksgiving). The socially-conscious organization, which promotes Philadelphia’s Latino community through arts and cultural programming, has been holding the holiday event since 1996. It serves over 200 people in North Philadelphia each year.
“We want to help people understand that they are not alone and that together we can make anything happen, especially for the holidays!” Carlos Pardo, Taller’s cultural and facilities manager, said in a statement.
As cold weather approaches, Taller encourages donors to drop off warm clothing for those who may not have a place to live for the winter. Organizers are also accepting canned goods, beverages and even cooked meals — after all, everyone deserves some Thanksgiving stuffing.
You can donate clothing and canned goods until Nov. 20. Cooked meals, however, should be dropped off the day of the drive, before noon.
Take all items to Taller’s headquarters at 2600 N. 5th Street, or arrange a pick-up by contacting Pardo at 215-423-6320 or cpardo@tallerpr.org.
