Greg Romero who brought us Of Plastic Things & Butterfly Wings for last year’s Philly Fringe Festival is back at it.
Delaware Mudtub & the Mighty Wampum
Delaware Mudtub and the Mighty Wampum is coming to Plays & Players from March 13-29, 2014. The play shares a story about mythic animals local to our area, and stories of the Lenni-Lenape, people once indigenous to the Delaware River. According to the press release,
The Lenape, meaning “the people,” thrived in the Delaware Valley and passed down folktales about the animals in their midst. They were well-known for crafting wampum beads — the beads, strung together, created wampum belts that told the stories of the Lenape families… In this immersive play with movement, acro-yoga, and puppetry, we invite you to join the Philadelphia native wildlife, to participate in their stories, helping them weave together the wampum belt of their lives.
Delaware Mudtub & the Mighty Wampum will by playing Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday at 10 AM and Saturdays/Sundays at 11 AM & 2:30 PM.
