Celebrate Philly Love Your Park Week

May 12th -19th is Philly Love Your Park Week - a week dedicated to celebrating Philadelphia's park system. Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Fairmount Park Conservancy, and Pennslyvania Horticulture Society have joined forces to bring Philadelphians eight days of diverse park events. Out-of-towners may think of Philly as an urban jungle, but we're lucky to have over 100 area parks to meet and exceed our "great outdoors" quota. The Greater Philadelphia Historic Home Show: LimeWorks.us Gets In On The Action

The Greater Philadelphia Historic Home Show will take place March 9 -11, and there’s plenty for green-minded antiquity lovers. Among the most noteworthy is LimeWorks.us presentations on the importance of proper repairs for vintage masonry. Andy DeGruchy, a local mason and LimeWorks.us business owner with over 30 years of masonry experience, will lead the demonstration and discussion. Camphill Communities Host Cycling Event for a Worthy Cause

Camphill communities in Chester County will host the fifth annual Camphill Challenge cycling event on Sunday, October 16. Camphill Special School, Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, and Camphill Soltane provide life sharing and educational opportunities for children, youth, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In just five years the Challenge has grown from twelve cyclists to over 300! The bike ride begins and ends at Kimberton Waldorf School in Kimberton this year and offers 50, 25, and 10-mile courses for all ages and ability levels. Read on for more details!

#Tweetcert Review: Beatles ‘Abbey Road” at the Mann Center

Looking for some relaxing summer entertainment? Head over the the Mann! Last Thursday, I enjoyed a very lovely, eco-friendly evening at the Mann Music Center for some Beatles during the Philly Orchestra's rendition of "Down the Abbey Road", part of the Orchestra Summer Series. During the show, concertgoers (including Green Philly Blog) tweeted show updates and interesting Beatles facts with the hashtag #tweetcert (like the Mann's pictured to the right). Phillies are Becoming Greener, Host eCycle Event Saturday 6/25

As you loyal Green Philly Blog readers may know, Beth & I are avid Phillies fans. (Case in point: see insert below as we celebrated World Series Victory in '08.) While the Phillies are lovable for so many reasons (my fav Chooch?!?), their green ambitions are certainly noteworthy between their Red Goes Green campaign, Pitcher Ryan Madson (ahh) greening his home and awards for being most veggie-friendly by PETA. Not to be done by the Linc's ambition to be the Greenest Stadium in the World, the Phils have stepped up their eco-game yet again.
