SEPTA is #1 Best Large Transit System in the Country?!?
Dirty, homeless, beggers, unclear bus schedules apparently is the summary of how hometown heroes describe the Best Large Transit System in the Country!
SEPTA beat out 64 agencies that applied to receive the honor by the American Public Transportation Association on Thursday.
SEPTA was recognized for its ” consolidated control center, environmentally friendly construction programs, large fleet of hybrid buses, and financial management”. Ridership in the past fiscal year was 339.3 million passengers!
This isn’t the first honor SEPTA’s received – Walk Score just named them #5 in the nation with giving citizens access to public transit back in April. And SEPTA does help you lighten your carbon footprint. On the green front, SEPTA’s on it’s way to swap out its coins for “Smart Cards” within the next 3 years. They have cleaner-energy vehicles.
Sure, DC has a very clean Metro but I’ve experienced longggg wait times on those pups. NYC has a decent subway (but I’ve never attempted the bus there.) But readers, is SEPTA in any way the best?
