Green Event Round-Up
Need to get your green on to balance all the red Phillies Phever going around? (Interestingly enough, the city of Philly is removing Solar-powered trashcans from center city and temporarily replacing them in riot anticipation.)
Upcoming Green Events in the Philly area include:
- 350 Philly– Saturday, October 24 @ 1 PM at Independence Mall: Join other eco-minded individuals gather to spread a global sustainability message. Katherine Gajewski, Director of Philly’s Office of Sustainability and Ray Anderson, environmental heavyweight are speaking. Why 350? 350 per million represents what climate change experts say is the ‘safe’ upper limit of CO2 in our atmosphere – and it’s 6 weeks before the December 2009 Copenhagen, Denmark meeting to finalize a climate change agreement. Learn more at 350 Philly’s website.
- Free Movie Screening of Coal Country – Thursday, October 29th, 7:30 PM at Bryn Mawr Film Institute, 824 W. Lancaster Ave, Bryn Mawr. Watch a film about modern coal mining and its impact on communities in Appalachia. RSVP with the Sierra Club here.
- Green Careers Workshop for Women – Friday, October 23rd 8:30 AM – 12 PM at Drexel University – Bossone Center: Hear presentations from women in the Green economy.
- Sugarloaf Crafts Festival – November 6-8 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center – Oaks, PA: More than 300 acclaimed artists will be displaying handmade art, live demonstrations, gourmet foods, and family entertainment.
