Climate trends: June was cooler and wetter than normal
Junes in Philadelphia are increasingly hotter, so this past month was an exception.
Despite temperatures rising (and even breaking the global temperature records this week), June was slightly cooler and wetter than normal, according to new data from Climate Central.
June’s average temperature in Philadelphia of 70.6ยฐF was 2.9ยฐ below normal, and the 4.24 inches of precipitation was 105% of the normal amount.ย On average, Junes are getting an average of 3.1ยฐF warmer since 1970.
This past month also had unusually high and hazardous air quality warnings, with wildfire smoke from Canada affecting Philadelphia.
July is predicted to be warmer than normal.
