Tickets Available for Must-See Blue Planet Live @ Mann Center 7/27

After recently attending the Mann Center’s “Down the Abbey Road” Tweetcert, I’m beyond psyched for “Blue Planet Live“!

On July 27th at 8:30 PM,  The Russian National Orchestra takes the stage for the eco-friendly, outdoor Mann’s classical season finale. The Orchestra will provide classical scores conducted by Lucas Richman and British composer George Fenton.  During the classicascores, two massive, high-definition video screens playing the BBC’s “Blue Planet” as esteemed broadcast journalist, Jane Pauley narrates the scenes.  The unique perspective of aquatic life including schools of fish migrating across the oceans, species of whales, and other marine life will blow your mind in high definition, beautiful images. Wherever you sit, you’ll be able to see the visuals: 1 video screen is on the pavilion another will be on the lawn. (Plus, with the “predatory behavior” warning, it’s bound to be good!) This “Blue Planet” Spectacular is a continuation of last summer’s BBC-themed “Planet Earth” concert. (Sidenote: I thoroughly enjoyed that concert! Get excited for this one.)

As President & CEO of the Mann, Catherine M. Cahill, explains, “We are delighted to host the Russian National Orchestra at the Mann this summer as their only East Coast venue before their European tour… We’ve married the best of classical music with original, visual programming to create memorable concert experiences.

Just to think, this concert is RIGHT before Shark Week!

For those social media geeks like myself, if you check in at the Mann on Foursquare during this concert, you’ll receive FREE tickets to From Russia With Love on 7/29! Just check in at the Mann and show the unlocked special on your phone to the Box Office during intermission.

Can’t catch Blue Planet Live?  The Russian National Orchestra will also play the Cirque de la Symphonie, showcasing a troupe of aerial fliers and
acrobats from Cirque on July 28th.  On July 29th, the “From Russia with Love, with Fireworks” will showcase many of the greatest works by the mighty Russian masters, complete with fireworks.

Tickets: $49.50, $25 or $10 (lawn). To purchase tickets and for more information on the Mann’s 2011 season, please visit http://www.manncenter.org.
