What’s Faster on I-76 Commute: A Car, Bus or Runners? Find out on 5/29
Do you often joke that it would be faster to walk home than sit on I-76?
I’ve been there – that’s why I traded in my Malvern days for a shorter commute and now live a car-free lifestyle.
Whether you want to find out for yourself or not, a group of (maybe) crazy Philadelphia runners who successfully raced a SEPTA bus 3.5 miles across Philly in November are up to the challenge again, this time against I-76.
Beat the Commute on May 29th
How it Works:
Beat the Commute will have the following: a group of West Philly Runners, at least one driver/passenger and public transit rider. They’ll start at the Philadelphia Runner store in West Philadelphia (3612 Walnut Street) to begin their commute home together. The driver will take the Schuylkill Expressway, runners will do 5.5 – 6.5 mile run to the Wissahickon Transportation Center and the commuter will head to the bus stop.
This is an “unofficial” race with no street closures, no entry fee – but also no food/water or support along the course. But it’s free – so why not give it a try? Want to join? Register online today.
Follow along with the hashtag #BeatTheCommute.
Essential Deets:
- What: Beat the Commute
- Who: West Philly Runners & anyone who wants to join
- When: Friday, May 29th at 5 PM.
- Any Qs? Alon Abramson, of West Philly Runners (alon.abramson@gmail.com)
