Vacant Lands & Vending Machines: Week Events 3/9 – 3/12

Case of the Mondays again?

After an incredible weekend with DVGBC’s Tri-State Sustainability Symposium and Fair Food’s Brewer’s Plate, it’s time to get back to reality and work again.

We’ll help you prep for the week with this week’s best events.

Week Events for March 9-13, 2015

  • Meatless Monday: (I mean, that’s every monday, right?)  Are you veggie curious? Trying to incorporate more plants in your diet? Attend a Meatless Monday cooking demonstration and sample tasty food, discuss the whys and hows of meatless meals, and receive the resources to implement a successful healthy diet. • New Spring Garden Market Wild Foods Tour: Take a walk through New Spring Garden Market to look at some of the more intriguing fruits and vegetables that grow wild in our region – like Bamboo, Lotus, Ginkgo, Hawthorne, Daylily, Wapato and much more – and discuss where they grow, how to harvest them and how to prepare them. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 6:00 PM, Spring Garden Supermarket
400 Spring Garden St, Philadelphia, PA, Meetup RSVP.
  • Vacant Land Resource Fair: All Your Questions Answered About That Vacant Lot on Your Block. With the City of Philadelphia’s recent commitment “to ethically and transparently process the disposition of vacant land”, the Vacant Land Resource Fair will inform on the policy changes, process, presentations on Land Access, but most importantly, expert partners will be available to answer 1-on-1 property specific questions. Hosted by Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, PHS, Parks and Recreation, and the Philadelphia Water Department, New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC). March 10th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Kensington CAPA High School (1901 North Front Street – next to the Market Frankford Berks Stop.) RSVP.
  • The Chapbook Vending Machine Launch Party: The Head & the Hand Press’s chapbook vending machine is on the move! Join the party with readings by authors Robert Marx, Sara Graybeal, and Autumn Konopka. Thursday March 12 at 7 PM, 207 S Sydenham St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19102, Facebook RSVP.
  • Healthy Happy Hour: Get in on a different (healthy) happy hour kicking off by a bootcamp with Jayel Lewis, and enjoy Naked Juice. Thursday, March 12th 6:30-8:30 PM, Impact Hub Philly, RSVP.
