It’s getting hot(ter) in here September. Despite what JD Vance said about “crazy weather patterns,” climate change continues to impact the US, from temperatures to supercharging Hurricane Helene’s destruction. This past month was warmer, with an average temperature of 70.6°F, which was 0.7° above normal, and the 0.77 inches of precipitation was 18% of the normal amount. Overall, September in Philadelphia is getting hotter, leading to a change of 3.3°F since 1970. There are signs it will continue: NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a warmer October in Pennsylvania as well. Climate Central

Wilmington’s Hagley Museum is tapping into its history by using century-old dams along the Brandywine River to generate hydroelectric power.
