March was much warmer and drier than normal

Climate Central’s monthly report revealed that Marches are getting over 3.1°F warmer on average

If March felt warmer than normal, it was.

The month’s average temperature of 45.1°F was 1.6° above normal. Marches in Philadelphia are getting hotter, leading to a change of 3.1°F since 1970.

April temps

However, the month was much drier than normal. The total 1.99 inches of precipitation was 50% of the average.

April is forecasted to continue to be warmer than normal.  Specifically, today is anticipated to be unusually warm, reaching a level 2 in the Climate Shift Index, which means that there’s a strong indicator that climate change is having a measurable impact on conditions in Philadelphia.
