Philly Tree Coalition Hosts “Tree-mendous Day at the Zoo” 

The Philly Tree Coalition, a multi-sector partnership hosted by Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), will host a “Tree-mendous Day at the Zoo” at Philadelphia Zoo. This event brings together organizations focused on environmental stewardship, education, community engagement, and public health to connect with Zoo guests through interactive activities, resources, and educational programming while highlighting the role trees play in creating healthier, cooler, and more resilient communities.  “Tree-mendous Day at the Zoo” will feature a series of 20-minute workshops, happening on the half-hour from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Activities will include yard tree giveaways, make your own take-home mini greenhouses, garden coloring pages, tree temporary tattoos and prints, birdseed cake crafts, and more. Community organizations will set up tables for information-sharing and outreach, engaging zoo-goers in activities that highlight the role of trees in providing shade to cleaner air quality that contributes to healthier, stronger and more resilient communities. Philadelphia Zoo itself is home to 1,500 individual trees that provide shade for guests and 1,900 animals.
