Join Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) for its 2025 Annual Public Projects Meeting to hear about FOW’s upcoming plans for continuing conservation of Wissahickon Valley Park and efforts to improve the Wissahickon Creek’s water quality. Executive Director Ruffian Tittmann and Project Manager Pauline Berkowitz will review the robust list of work accomplished during FOW’s centennial year, which includes the much anticipated completion of the $3.5 million Valley Green Run Restoration and Pedestrian Bridge project – FOW’s largest capital investment to date.
They will also provide updates on the next phases of the ongoing Germantown Neighborhood Connection and the Pachella Gully Restoration and Sedimentation Reduction Project, which FOW is undertaking in partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and the Philadelphia Water Department, as well as updates on other upcoming projects.
Director of Field Stewardship Shawn Green will share FOW’s extensive volunteer achievements from 2024 as well as the many ways to get involved in 2025. He will also discuss FOW’s plans for expanding the successful internship program with School District of Philadelphia high school students.
Staff from Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (OTIS) will join FOW to present on a study they’re undertaking to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety along Walnut Lane and increase connectivity to and from Wissahickon Valley Park.
