Want to get out of your apartment and discuss sustainability with local friends? We’re happy to announce our first “green” book club, partnering the Head and the Hand Press! In a city of people passionate about green living, we think it’s high time we begin bringing creative literature into the sustainability discussion. Let’s see what literature can teach us about natural living, and how entering into a character’s experiences can spark questions and ideas about urban farming, green living, and social change. The Sustainable Business Network helps local businesses with many goals, like to meet their triple bottom line: planet, people & profits. Therefore, helping them for the SustainaBall is like helping 600+ businesses at once!

The 2014 Tri-State Sustainability Symposium returns to Philly on March 7. Currently in year #4, industry, university & community leaders share sustainability insight, questions and cutting edge information - relevant right in our region. The Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC) are hosting the affair, followed by a free sustainability forum with PA's gubernatorial candidates. Our favorite Spring day returns once again, this year! Gather your brooms, shovels & rakes! Philly Spring Cleanup Day 2014 The 7th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup Day returns on Saturday, April 5, 2014 (with the rain day on Saturday, April 12). The 2013 efforts boasted over 13,000 volunteers collecting 1,014,540 pounds of trash (and an additional 23,341 recycled goods!) across the city.

The locavore & beer lover's favorite feel-good event of the year returns on March 9, 2014. The Brewer's Plate Philly has changed locales to the Kimmel Center of Performing Arts, but is guaranteed to be amazing as always. The 10th annual Brewer's Plate's smörgåsbord of food & beer pairings brings some of Philly's best chefs, farmers, brewers, distillers and more together to celebrate. With Greenbuild in Philadelphia this week, the Living Building Challenge and Net Zero Water Forum discuss stormwater management in our buildings. The Living Building Challenge is “the most most rigorous design and construction standard in the world today. It is also a philosophy, advocacy platform and certification tool.” Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 19th is a Net Zero Water Forum. The Net Zero Water Forum is a 4-hour in-depth review of the Living Building Challenge’s “Water Petal,” which is intended to redefine our relationship to water and 'waste' in the built environment. What does this have to do with Philly?
