‘Under da Sea’ views with Message for Blue Planet Live at Mann Center

Whales, sharks, seals, schools of fishes, killer whales, penguins. The Mann Center certainly delivered incredible visuals of all of these aquatic creatures (plus many more!) combined with amazing sounds from the Russian National Orchestra during last night's Blue Planet Live. Starting off Blue Planet Live with a video of the biggest creature to ever roam the earth (including dinosaurs), the Blue Whale is fascinating at the least, as you can see from this video: (catch the video and much more after the jump!)

Philadelphia CowShare: Local, Sustainable Meat

Where's the beef?! Apparently a CowShare system popped up in my inbox from DailyCandy this morning: There's Farm CSA shares, Car Shares like Zipcar and many other "shares" to hit Philly. For those who want to improve their carbon footprint from eating meat but can't cut the habit completely, Philadelphia CowShare seems like a

Philly Mag published a post yesterday by Carrie Denny titled “Philadelphia Cyclists Finally Get What’s Coming to ‘Em..”     *hand to forehead.* As Ms. Denny begins, “The Boyfriend says that bikers throughout the city of Philadelphia know well the hum of my 2000 Land Rover Discovery. You know what I say? I wish they did. Then maybe they’d get the hell out of the way.” Get the hell out of the way?? Oh, Carrie, it’s been brought-en. Throughout the article, Ms. Denny (find out more, after the jump!)

My CSA Adventure: Farm Fresh & De-lish! (Photo Friday Fun)

CSA and me, best of friends... For those unfamiliar, a CSA, or a Community Supported Agriculture is a (now) popular way to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Essentially, the farm will offer a certain number of "shares" to the public - normally including a box of veggies, but other produce can be included. Consumers buy a "share" or membership and pick up their share on a weekly basis. My good friend Sara's been participating in a local, Chester-County CSA this summer and was on vacation... So she was nice enough to give me her CSA share for the week! Sara (find out more and see CSA pics, after the jump!)

#Tweetcert Review: Beatles ‘Abbey Road” at the Mann Center

Looking for some relaxing summer entertainment? Head over the the Mann! Last Thursday, I enjoyed a very lovely, eco-friendly evening at the Mann Music Center for some Beatles during the Philly Orchestra's rendition of "Down the Abbey Road", part of the Orchestra Summer Series. During the show, concertgoers (including Green Philly Blog) tweeted show updates and interesting Beatles facts with the hashtag #tweetcert (like the Mann's pictured to the right). Besides the fact I was waiting for Joan Osborne to change her tune and do a little portion of "One of Us", I was highly entertained for the evening! The Orchestra started off
