Philly VegFest Debuts on June 14

Philly VegFestVeg-consuming friends: Ever walk around a festival endlessly searching for serious options?

As I wandered along the Italian Festival this past weekend, I realized there was a lack of vegetarian food from vendors besides popcorn, pizza and fried anythings. Good news for you:

The first-ever Philly VegFest is coming to Headhouse Square (2nd & Pine) on Saturday, June 14th from 11 AM to 4 PM.

Philly VegFest

Philly VegFest will showcase vegan and vegetarian foods, cooking demos, nonprofit exhibitors & more.

Exhibitors & Guests include:

  • Whole foods chef and PBS cooking show host Christina Pirello
  • Chef Rich Landau of award-winning Vedge restaurant;
  • Rachel Klein of Miss Rachel’s Vegan Pantry
  • David Coman-Hidy, Executive Director of The Humane League
  • Chef KESS
  • Hip City Veg
  • Mom’s Organic Market
  • Soom Foods
  • Blackbird Pizzeria
  • Sip N Glo Juicery
  • Soy Cafe

… and many more.

Sponsored by the Humane League, the festival will help emphasize the environmental, health and ethical benefits of eating a plant-based diet.

As Rachel Atcheson, Philadelphia Director of The Humane League said,

“As the 5th largest city in the U.S., it’s only fitting that we begin to embrace vegetarian and vegan eating. This inaugural event will be a great way for Philadelphia residents to learn how easy plant-based eating can be.”
