Jack Johnson’s Green Concert – Philly Style
Last night I saw my fav musician, Jack Johnson in concert on his Philly stop. (aka Camden – but how many attendees are Camden residents?) I was impressed. On top of being a very talented musician, he’s super-green. Here’s my green JJ concert journey:
When I bought the tickets in March, I opted for the .50 cent carbon offset (per ticket) option. (Great way to reduce your carbon footprint!) Following my purchase, Jack’s crew sent an email with suggested positive changes you can make during your concert experience like carpooling or taking mass transit to the show, what eco-options they offer at the show etc.
On Tuesday, I received an email-reminder for the concert. It gave reminders of enviro-tips for the big day, such as bringing refillable bottles for water stations, how to sign up for the All At Once community (Jack’s enviro fan base), buy CO2 offset stickers and recycling at selected stations.
Jack played a great show. After the green-hype, I must admit that I was a little irritated to see plastic bottles in the trash cans, with the recycle stations a few feet away. (Guess a few people deleted the eco-emails?!) But, I did see many people using the water stations and taking mass transit to & from the concert.
Good eco-campaigning JJ – Your efforts are definitely needed for a change.
