Philly Bagged Leaf Drive Kicks off Nov 8th
Yay for Philly! Rather than letting leaves collect in drains and litter our streets, Philly is having a 6-week Philly Bagged Leaf Drive to collect & compost them to fertilize gardens & nourish trees. From November 8-December 17, you can set out leaves on trash day to help Philadelphia’s foliage – saving time & labor costs.
How can you participate? Here are the Collection Guidelines:
- ONLY use brown paper leaf bags, available at most hardware or home improvement stores
- Set your leaf bags next to trash & recyclables on your regular trash day
- Leaves in plastic bags will be collected as TRASH – not recycling (and that’s worse for landfills, fyi)
- DON’T mix trash or recyclables with leaves
- Use as many bags as needed
- Maximum 40 LBs per bag
- Mechanical leaf collection will NOT be available
- Set out no later than 7:00 AM on your collection day
- You can also drop off bagged leaves to a Sanitation Convenience Center
For more info, check Philadelphia Street’s bagged leaf drive website.
Happy raking & leaf collecting!
