Where to Recycle Your Freezer in Philly

Your old refrigerator or freezer can use as much as four times the energy as newer models, adding up to $150/year on your electricity bill.

How to Recycle Your Old Freezer

PECO will pick up your old freezer or fridge FOR FREE and give you $75. You can go online, schedule the appointment and get that old appliance off your hands.

If you recycle an old air conditioner, you’ll get another $10.

Want to make sure you qualify? Check these eligibility requirements form PECO:

  • You must receive residential electric service from PECO, you must own the unit(s) being recycled and the unit(s) must be located at the address with the qualifying account.
  • The refrigerator or freezer must be between 10 and 30 cubic feet (interior) in size, empty, defrosted and working at the time of pickup.
  • Unit(s) must be accessible with a clear and safe path for removal. The removal team will not risk injury, remove personal effects or modify your home (e.g. remove doors or railings) to remove the unit(s).
