Where to Compost Pumpkins After Halloween

Don’t waste your October goods

Every October, pumpkins pop up on porches and stoops across the city. And every November, those same pumpkins begin to decay and become unsightly science experiments.

Don’t know what to do with your old jack o’lantern?

You have a few options.

First, make sure to make the MOST out of your pumpkins by roasting the seeds for a snack or you could use the pulp for baked goods. There’s no shortage of pumpkin ideas.

Make sure to compost the remains if you have a yard or compost bin.

Don’t have a compost bin? Circle Compost offers convenient pickups for composting them!

At a price of $4/pumpkin and the emotional satisfaction of helping create nutrient soil for Philadelphia, it’s a hard bargain to beat!

There are four dates to have your pumpkin picked up: November 3rd and 4th, or December 2nd & 3rd.

There’s nothing spookier than when perfectly good compostable matter ends up wasted in a landfill. Keep the horror to Halloween and compost your pumpkin this fall.
