Where Can I Recycle Used Headphones? WCI Weds

I have a problem.  My headphones break. A lot.  But, I use them everyday: at work, running, the gym, on mass transit… etc.  They get their fair share of use.

Headphones (especially broken ones) are tricky to recycle since not many companies take them.  You can DIY turn them into speakers, but I do not have the patience for that one. Plus, broken headphones won’t work for this project.

Where to Recycle Used Headphones

Luckily, thinksound has come to my rescue with a recycling program. Download the headphones recycling form on their website, and mail it along with as many headphones to their New Hampshire location.  You get a 15% discount off your next purchase with them (25% if the headphones are thinksound brand).

Plus, thinksound has a sustainable mission, described on their site: thinksound™ began with a simple goal; to create incredible sounding headphones with the smallest eco-footprint possible. Our headphones are made with real wood, creating a more natural resonance and unparalleled acoustics.

We reached out, and CEO Aaron Fournier was nice enough to explain how thinksound was born: ” I started thinksound after years of developing audio for other companies and I was frustrated when no one would take any of my eco design ideas seriously.”  He also said they’ve partnered with a company that strips down and recycles the individual components of the headphones. Obviously, people are loving this recycling program.

And we do too! thinksound will be getting a nice, thick envelope from me soon. And gain a customer after I receive a 15% off voucher in my inbox.

Editors note: Thinksound did not sponsor or reach out to us for our post – We stumbled upon them and wanted to share their mission.  If you know of other greening music initiatives, please feel free to comment below or send us an email!
