More Street Cred: Philly is #9 for Green Jobs

Love the environment and looking for a job? You may be in luck!

Philadelphia came in at #9 for green jobs, with 789 job listings according to Simply Hired. There are over 45,000 green job listings on the website currently, with San Francisco as the largest city with openings. New York and Houston follow after Golden Gate city.

Examples of ‘green’ jobs include sustainability coordinator, energy efficiency manager & environmental compliance specialist.

As Gautam Godhwani, Simply Hired’s chief executive said, “Although conventional wisdom suggests that ‘green’ hiring would be the slowest to recover from an economic downturn, we think this upward trend represents recognition of the role these kinds of jobs play in cutting costs. “We see this as further proof of the inroads sustainability has made as a legitimate business value for the modern organization no matter the economic climate.”

Readers, do you feel as though Philadelphia deserves the #9 title? What’s your ‘green job’ in Philly?
