Join Your Neighbors for Philly Spring Clean Up Day
Grab some trash bags and team up with your fellow community members to keep the streets clean.
The 12th annual Philly Spring Cleanup Day is taking place this Saturday, April 6th, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. If you can’t stay for the whole time, that’s fine! Registration leaders will be on site between those hours to help you get started whenever you show up.
Last year’s clean-up saw thousands of volunteers participating in hundreds of projects and collecting hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash. This year is an opportunity to get more people involved to clean even more trash as Philadelphia fights back against litter and illegal dumping.
Don’t be shy about joining a project. Not only are you helping to keep Philly streets beautiful, but it’s a great way to meet and connect with people in your community. Build relationships with those in the neighborhood as you work together.
What To Know Before You Go
- Do you want to participate in a project? Sign up for a project happening in your neighborhood or a neighborhood you care about. Check out the Philly Spring Cleanup Day website and choose “Find a project” to fill a volunteer slot.
- Essential equipment such as work gloves, trashbags, and brooms are normally provided. Feel free to bring your own if you’re comfortable, along with something to snack on as you work throughout the day.
- Keep an eye out on the weather. Bring a raincoat just in case it looks like it may rain.
- Not sure what to wear? Dress comfortably and in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or wet. Closed-toe shoes are best. Depending on where you are cleaning and what the weather would be like, consider keeping your arms and legs covered as well.
- Be mindful of designated pickup sites for any trash collected!
