Philadelphia's Latest Green Events

Need some green in your life to go along with the Red Phils Phever?!? Here’s a roundup of upcoming eco-friendly events in Philly:

  • KarmaFest: Saturday October 10th & Sunday October 11th from 10 AM – Dark at Kollar’s Nursery in Harford County, MD.  Get your yogi on & enjoy this Holistic Yoga Festival.  Get tickets at the door if you’d like – See website for details.
  • Cohousing: Building Sustainable & Intentional Communities: Day-long program on Saturday October 10th at Moore College of Art & Design.  Learn about history, theories and practices of living in eco-friendly cohousing at this free program.  Speakers include architect & author of seminal text on cohousing Charles Durrett, as well as Tom Bath, Laura itch, Scott Kelly, Jackie O’Neil and Donald E.   • GRID magazine’s October release party: Monday, October 12th from 5-7 PM at Monk’s Tavern – 264 S. 16th Street.  Have a drink and read some sustainable local news!
  • Northeast Green Building & Design Show: Friday, October 9, 2009 at NJ Expo Center in Edison NJ.  Looking to design or revamp a house or building?  Building Industry Professionals & homeowners can see booths/exhibits and interactive seminars/speeches about enviro-friendly building & designs.
  • SoReFa Fashion Show: Sunday, October 11 @ 4 PM at North Bowl – 909 N. 2nd St, Northern Liberties.  Look good this season and feel good while rocking the latest trends! Arcadia is helping present this show’s “Socially Responsible Fashion” show with sustainable, recycled, re-purposed & fair trade fashions. Fall 2009’s designers include Nicole Rae Styer, Preloved, NatureVs. Future, Edun, Ryann, Ivy Glass, Stewart+Brown, Olsen Haus & more!  Arcadia‘s hosting the after-party at 819 N. 2nd St.
