Green event: Saturdays – Piazza Farmer's Market

Hungry for some local & fresh produce?  Good news – The Piazza at Schmidt’s has an annual Saturday afternoon Farmers Market! The Piazza Farmer’s Market imports local farmers to Northern Liberties to showcase the best local produce, meats, poultry and dairy products available in the city of Philadelphia.

Kicking off last Saturday the Piazza Farmer’s Market has more than 20 local farmers.  Best part – all of the farmers are one or more of the following: local, sustainably grown, ethically raised, free range, hormone free, pesticide free, organic, raw and/or grass fed.  Current selections include winter vegetables and fruits, rabbit, veal, beef, quail, pheasant, raw milk, artisan cheeses, and heritage breed free range chicken eggs.  Also, delicious prepared foods are available for shoppers.

I picked up some delicious apples last week – Unfortunately the free-range eggs were sold out by the time I arrived (at approximately 11:30 AM!)

Saturdays from 10 AM – 2 PM, The Piazza at Schmidts, 2nd and Hancock Streets, Northern Liberties, Phila.
