Plastic Bag Update & (Empire) Plastic State of Mind

It’s been a month since our “Ban the Philly Bag” – Plastic Bag Ban Awareness campaign  began on July 26th. Our petition has remained open and we’re still gathering signatures.

Bringing attention to the plastic bag issue was step one of this campaign. We’ve been doing a lot behind the scenes over the past month. But, after discussing the previous plastic ban vote’s failure with those who were campaigning in 2009, we need your support – first and foremost.

Mark your calendars: We’re happy to announce we’ll be at the Clean Air Council’s Greenfest Philly on Sunday, September 9th to say hi to you all, and discuss why this ban is crucial for Philadelphia. BONUS: We’ll even have a sweet raffle prize for those who sign the petition.

How can you help?

  • Continue to sign and share the petition.
  • Write, call and email your Philadelphia City Council representative and say you want to ban the plastic bag. Not sure who your council representative is? Check out the City Council Map.
  • Are you a business owner or friends with one? Join our Ban the Bag brigade of businesses. Email greenphillyblog @ gmail.com for more info!
  • A friend shared this informative and entertaining video of Jay Z & Alicia Keys… I mean, Empire Plastic State of Mind:

We’re ready to fight for the ban. Thanks for your support, and please continue to share our message!
