Kidchella, Park Cleanup, and Climate March: Weekend Guide: 7/25 – 7/27

Another week has come and gone. Whether you were busy deciphering the updated version of Philly Parking Wars, prepping for a mass exodus from the city (courtesy of MOTU) or trying the top secret Hip City Veg vegan chicken club sammie, we hope you got your fill of beer at the closest Pop Up while they’re (happily) here.

After all this week’s action, did you forget to make any plans for the weekend? Well, you came to the right place since we have just the guide for you.

Whether you are looking for children’s concerts, park cleanups, or eco-friendly art viewings we have it all!

Here’s the best Philly events for the weekend of July 25 – 27:

  • Seedlings Parent & Child Outdoor Program: Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is hosting parent-and-child activities to promote nature and environmental awareness on Friday, July 25th. Children, ages 2-5, will join in nature-inspired activities and get a sneak peak of the Nature Preschool from 2-3pm. Adult participation and pre-registration is required.   • Kidchella: Smith Memorial Playground is hosting a Kids Music Festival on Friday, July 25th, from 6-8pm. The event is free for Smith members, $10 per person for nonmembers. (Rain or shine Kidchella will be outside.) 3500 Reservoir Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19121
  • Friends of Pennyback Park Cleanup: Pennyback Park is asking for volunteers to help clean up its 1600 acres. On Saturday, July 26th, from 10am-1pm you can come out and show your Philly pride! Tip: wear comfortable clothing, clos-toed shoes, gloves, hat, and sunblock. Frankford Ave & Solly Ave.
  • Saturdays @SCEE: The Schuylkill Center is once again hosting naturalist-led storytime and old-fashioned games on Saturday, July 26th. Children will be able to study different objects from nature and learn about the environment from 10:30–11:30am. Admission is free.8480 Hagy’s Mill Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19128
  • Reception and Artist Talk with LandLab: Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is hosting the official unveiling of the completed installation of Maggie Mills, B. H. Mills, and Marguerita Hagan’s artwork and sculptures, pollinator-friendly garden, and midsummer bloom. On Saturday, July 26th, from 3-5pm artist and scientific experts will speak about plant-pollinator interactions and the importance to our ecosystem.   • People’s Climate March: Taberancle United Church of Christ is volunteering space to host local activists to create an organizing process to engage Philadelphia in the People’s Climate March. The event will be held over two different days: Saturday, July 26, 10am-5pm and Sunday, July 27, 1:30-5:30pm.The meeting will not only teach you the basics of organizing, but also deepen your local networks and make the connection between the People’s Climate March and local eco-campaigns. 3700 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA
  • XPoNential Music Festival: Philly’s beloved Indie Radio Station hosts its annual XPN music festival, packed with Indie acts, sustainable vendors like Natural Lands Trust, Door to Door Organics and Whole Foods. Go for a day or grab a weekend pass for one of Philly music’s highlights! Friday, July 25 – Sunday, July 27; day passes start at $30 for members.
