What a week! We learned about the efforts against the crude oil trains around Philly, celebrated the opening of TU’s Rad Dish Cafe, and that Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds-Brown wants to double the green roof tax credit.

- Green Allies Conference: Designed for college students by college students and sponsored by SPARC, the Green Allies Conference is an environmental conference featuring inspirational speakers, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities focused on the goal of promoting sustainability initiatives on college campuses. Over a dozen colleges will be represented at the conference. GPB’s Julie will be speaking, too! February 7th, 2015 9am-4pm, Temple University’s Howard Gittis Student Center. More info.

- Winter Tracking & Survival: Bundle up in your coats, gloves, and hats and hike through the forest blanketed in winter to track animals, find shelter in the wild, and learn how to build a fire, an essential tool for surviving long winters. - Giants of the Forest : Take a guided hike to see the largest trees in the Schuylkill Center’s forest, gain a historical perspective of the land and discover simple ways to identify these species by their winter characteristics. Our walk will take us through old fields, past ruins, and into steep ravines. If there is snow cover on the ground, wear warm boots or snowshoes. Another Schuylkill Center hike.
