Sweating Out August: Week Events 8/24 – 8/30

August keeps bringing the heat, so we can really feel the Sweatuation up in here. Now that SEPTA’s getting on board with bikes (h/t to Next City), we can celebrate this week with a movie, GPB’s Editor in a book reading and the Schulykill River.

Here’s the best events this week & weekend.

Week Events August 24 – 27:

    • Philly Permaculture Movie Screening, Discussion & Potluck: Watch “Botanical Explorers: The Fruitful Forest,” and bring some food to share, if you’d like. BYO Cup, Plate, and Utensils to make this a no-waste event. Monday, August 24th at 7 PM; Repair The World: Philadelphia, 4029 Market St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104, RSVP.
    • The Head and the Hand Presents the Corn Belt Almanac at LOTS: Please join The Head & The Hand Press for a Pop Up reading with LOTS Philly and the authors of The Corn Belt Almanac. The Corn Belt Almanac is a collection of stories, essays, triumphs, and reflections about our largest cultural ingredient: food. Featured readers of the night will be Fishtown writer Sarah Grey, Green Philly Blog’s Julie Hancher and The Head & The Hand’s very own Nic Esposito. Wednesday, August 26th at 7 PM; LOTS (a public garden installation) at the corner of East Susquehanna and Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA; More info.
