Philly’s HOT: Week & Weekend Events 7/20 – 7/26

Happy Monday, friends! There’s a heat warning in town today, so it’s the perfect time to sit in the AC and catch up on important issues like who owns Philly Streetscapes or that Philly could have a sister city in Germany– and more importantly, what to do this week! (And weekend, you’ll notice.)

Philly Week Events for July 20 – 23, 2015:

  • SBN-BQ: Put a little barbeque break between work and you! Network with fellow SBN members and supporters at our SBN-BBQ amongst the lush, shaded trees and beautiful gardens of Awbury Arboretum.   • Bat Night: Spend the evening inside The Woodlands after dark searching for bats! Bring a picnic, blanket, and a flashlight for a rare chance to spend the evening in the Cemetery after dark to see the resident bats and make a craft with the University City Arts League you can take home.   • ‘I got hit by a car. Now what?’ A conversation with Piscitello Law: Join SPOKE magazine and Joe Piscitello, a bike attorney here in Philadelphia, for a happy-hour talk about what cyclists can and should do in the aftermath of a collision with a car. Learn your legal rights as a two-wheeled user of the road, and how best to put them to use in case a crash ever occurs. Philly Weekend Events July 24 – 26, 2015:

  • XPoNential Music Festival 2015: With a lineup of established and up-and-coming artists heard on WXPN 88.5FM, the award-winning Philadelphia public radio station, along with a variety of family-friendly activities, the XPoNential Music Festival has been pleasing audiences of all ages for more than a decade on the Camden Waterfront.   • Bang!Boom!CRAFT fair: Shop for handmade crafts at the 6th annual Bang!Boom!CRAFT with40+ local artist’s and crafters! Sunday July 26th from 11am- 4pm on east passyunk avenue; Facebook RSVP.
  • Philadelphia Yoga Day: Explore the various dimensions of yoga – physical stretches, sun salutations, meditation, breathing techniques, wisdom, music and more at this free event. Sunday, July 26th from 8 AM – 5 PM;  Independence Park & Visitor Center, 1 N Independence Mall W, Philadelphia, PA 19106; More info.
