Philly Spring Cleanup Day 2014 Returns on April 5!

Our favorite Spring day returns once again, this year! Gather your brooms, shovels & rakes!

Philly Spring Cleanup Day 2014

The 7th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup Day returns on Saturday, April 5, 2014 (with the rain day on Saturday, April 12). The 2013 efforts boasted over 13,000 volunteers collecting 1,014,540 pounds of trash (and an additional 23,341 recycled goods!) across the city.

Organizations can apply for projects online on the Philadelphia Streets Website. (You can also mail it in, but be green and save paper. But you don’t have to organize a site to participate – simply go on the Philly Spring Cleanup Day website and find hundreds of projects in various ‘hoods in a few weeks. We’ve helped clean up Northern Liberties for the past few years.

You can request cleaning supplies from the city, including:

  • Trash bags
  • Rakes
  • Paint & Brushes
  • Gloves
  • Shovels
  • Graffiti Removal Kits
  • Brooms
  • Recycling Bins
  • Safety Vests

Update 3/14: The deadline to register project sites is Friday, March 21, 2014.

As Mayor Nutter discussed the annual cleanup,

“I’m continually inspired by the ongoing citizen engagement which has become a hallmark of the Philly Spring Cleanup. Community involvement is the impetus for a successful cleanup season and a beautiful city.”

Readers, are you going to participate in this year’s Philly Spring Cleanup Day?
