Passover Workshop to Kickstart a Healthy Lifestyle

This guest post comes to us from Cassie Pena of the Jewish Farm School.

During Passover we reflect on the ancient journey of the Israelite people from enslavement to freedom; the experience of passing through Mitzrayim (Egypt or a “narrow” place) towards new untold openness and expression. Our rituals during this time of year include cleaning our kitchens and homes of glutinous foods, such as bread and other chametz (foods with leavened bread).

But when we clean out our cabinets, we don’t usually clean out our bodies. Why, when so much of Passover today focuses on spiritual slavery do we not clean the house of our spiritual being?

An upcoming Passover Workshop will find a new way to embrace Passover and choose foods that free the body and mind of excessive toxins. Join Jewish Farm School, with special guest Simeon Darwick, Integrative Nutritionist and laughter yoga specialist for this upcoming event.

Cleansing to Freedom: Passover New Habits workshop will be on Tuesday, April 1, from 7:30 pm-9:30 pm at the Ahimsa House.

Register for the Cleansing to Freedom workshop on Eventbrite.

Simeon (Shimon) Darwick inspires joy, health, and nature connection in the Jewish and secular communities through the inquiry practices of food energetics and mindfulness, as well as laughter yoga, interdisciplinary yoga, and embodied movement inspired by nature and breath.

The Jewish Farm School is dedicated to teaching about contemporary food and environmental issues through innovative trainings and skill-based Jewish agricultural education. We are driven by traditions of using food and agriculture as tools for social justice and spiritual mindfulness. Through our programs, we address the injustices embedded in today’s mainstream food systems and work to create greater access to sustainably grown foods, produced from a consciousness of both ecological and social well being.
