1. RAIR: Projects made possible by the waste stream

Check out this super sustainable art exhibition featuring work that interrupts the waste stream. Beautiful and thought-provoking sculptural objects, photography, video, and performance all from materials recovered from a recycling center in Northeastern Philadelphia. Celebrate the intersection of sustainability and design.

2. Sh*theads World Premiere

Come see the world premiere of Sh*theads, a show written by local Philadelphia playwright, directed by Kevin Glaccum, and presented by presented by Azuka Theatre. The show follows one manager’s mission to save the store he loves, Bert’s Bikes and Sports, a bike shop in lower Manhattan.

3. Night Skies in the Observatory

Explore the night skies like never before at the Franklin Institute’s Bloom Observatory. The evening will be hosted by the Astronomer, Derrick Pitts, and will include astronomy-themed activities and lots of stargazing using the observatory’s telescopes, and free star maps. Keep your eyes peeled for stars, planets, and other celestial bodies in this out of this world event (sorry, I couldn’t resist!).

4. Philadelphia Flower Show

A favorite annual event in the City of Brotherly Love, this year’s theme is Holland and packed with activities for all ages. Experiences include Garden Tea, Early Morning Photography Tours, a Garden Spa, Butterflies Live educational exhibit, and Flowers After Hours, a flower and 90’s themed throwback party.

5. March 2017 Philly full moon ride

Don’t miss the March installment of the monthly Philly Full Moon Rides. The ride will be about 10 miles long and will end at the Green Rock Tavern on Lehigh Ave. Carl Joseph Drexler will be leading the ride with a pace of about 14 mph with catch up stops and a mid-point rest stop, so riders don’t have to worry about getting left behind.

6. Pi Day in Philadelphia

Celebrate your love of Pi and pie at the Philadelphia Free Library’s Culinary Literacy Center on 3/14. Chef Valerie Erwin will take visitors on an adventure through the intersection of math and baking. Expect mathematical and delicious pi(e) at this One Book Philadelphia program.

7. Toads with Doug Wechsler

The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education presents a chance to learn about toads with Doug Wechsler, author of 23 children’s books on natural science. The event will kick off with a reading by Wechsler of his book, The Hidden Life of the Toad, followed by a hike through the center’s forest and ponds to search for toads.
