New Year, New Mayor: Week Events Jan 4 – 10th 2016

Happy New Year, readers!

Our Mayor of the city transitions from Nutter to Kenney in a matter of hours, and we’re psyched to ring in the transition along with a few of our new years detox resolutions.

To celebrate a whole new year of possibilities (and mistakes), we’re kicking off the week with events for you.

Week Events January 4-7, 2016

  • Beginners Yoga in Fleisher’s Sanctuary: Get limber before class or work! Fleisher Art Memorial is offering yoga in the Sanctuary on Wednesday mornings, from 8:50 to 9:50 a.m. beginning January 6. Yoga is $10 per session and there’s no need to register. Cash only. 719 Catharine Street; more info.
  • January Nerd Nite: Books Made from People, Bubble Boy, and Planes!  Nerd out with the crew at Frankford Hall, hearing from Beth Lander, Librarian & Archivisit for the College of Physicians of Philadelphia/Mutter Museum, Chris Cummins, Pop Culture enthusiast & Archie Comic Historian and Mike Ceriello, Boeing Engineer.   • 350 Philly January Open Membership Meeting: Expect snacks, great comrades, some critical thinking, and if all goes right, an action group or next steps for you to become a full-fledged member! Thursday, January 7th at 6 PM; 2401 Walnut St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103; more info.
  • Green Drinks Philadelphia & South Jersey: Meet similarly minded sustainable friends at this monthly happy hour. Wednesday, January 6th from 6-8 PM; Bridget Foy’s (200 South Street), The Farm & Fisherman Tavern + Market, 1422 Marlton Pike E, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034

Weekend Events January 8-10, 2016

  • Yoga and Brunch at Hydro+Pose Studio: Umm, hello: yoga and then brunch?! What more do you need to know. Plus, this yoga studio doubles as an indoor garden (that’s for the heads up, Be Well Philly!). Sunday, January 10th from 10:30 AM. to 12:15PM; 1903 South Broad Street, South Philly. Register.
  • WTF Cycles: a co-op shop day for Women/Trans/Femme cyclists: Ladies – it’s your time to work on your bikes in a non-intimidating environment. Join this co-op shop day with WTF Cycles.
