- NATURE PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE: Learn more about Nature Preschool, the Schuylkill Center’s progressive nature-based program for children ages 3 – 5. - Local Solutions to Global Challenges: Finding Meaning and Hope from the Paris Climate Talks: Join Sustainable Cherry Hill to explore this global challenge through the lens of local climate activists who will share their stories from Paris and how they are creating change back here at home in this panel discussion moderated by Lori Braunstein. - Philly Co-op Happy Hour: Join cooperators from all over the Philadelphia region for a fun, casual happy hour gathering at W/N W/N Coffee Bar, a worker-owned co-op. - Philadelphia Energy Solutions Public Hearing: The Philadelphia Energy Solutions oil refinery wants to put in an oil import and export facility at the new Southport terminal, on the southeast corner of Philly. Already the oil refinery is responsible for 72% of the toxic air in Philly while over 1/4 of children in Philly have asthma. On March 9th, the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority will have a public hearing on the proposals for the Southport facility. We need to make our voices heard — no new oil for Philly! Wednesday, March 9th, Meet at 5:30 PM outside the Sheetmetal Worker’s Hall (1301 S Columbus Blvd). The hearing will run from 6-8PM; RSVP.
- Coffee and Beer at United By Blue: Watch a demonstration on how to expertly brew coffee and beer while sampling some of each. Relax inside United By Blue as you watch Garrett and Meredith whip up a homebrewed stout made from Reanimator Coffee. - Artist Reception: Michael Secor: Michael Secor is the reCreate Featured Artist of March at The Resource Exchange! He creates paintings and drawings with reclaimed supplies from our store that focus on the relationship between space and color. - Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop: Don’t miss this introductory workshop that basics of fruit tree grafting and then lead participants in the hands-on grafting of their trees. - Fungus Among Us: Discover the mysterious world of fungi in an afternoon of performance, exploration, and fun. With a hilarious blend of education and humor, Pete Stobie investigates the mysteries of the mushrooms. After the interactive performance, we’ll head out on the trail and search for fantastic fungi.
