Sustainable homes should be available to families of all income levels. Due to a unique partnership between Postgreen Homes and the New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC), it’s one of the first projects of its kind in Philadelphia. LEED Platinum houses on the 400 Block of Thompson St are the forefront of green housing, the project also uses passive house design principles.
Appropriately named Awesometown (I’d buy a house there just to say I was awesome ALLLLL the time), NKCDC is providing financial assistance to 4 low-income buyers to ensure Awesometown is accessible.
Awesometown is one of 6 Project Finalists honored by DVGBC its upcoming annual Groundbreaker awards on 9/29.
The 2016 Groundbreaker Awards recognize leadership, innovation and a commitment to sustainability in the built environment. Join green building leaders and industry professionals for an evening of networking, music, fine food and drinks, and an amazing view of Center City from Cira Green, Philadelphia’s largest green roof and first elevated park!
Delaware Valley Green Building Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering transformative impact in our communities through green building education and advocacy.
