Alex Prud’homme Discusses the Ripple Effect & Documentary here in Philly!

Water water everywhere… but do we have to worry about what we can drink?

Journalist Alex Prud’homme is coming to Philadelphia to discuss his book, “The Ripple Effect: The Fate of Fresh Water in the Twenty-First Century”. Tomorrow, Wednesday December 5th from 5:30-9 at the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center, the event will include a talk, book signing & screening of the documentary LAST CALL AT THE OASIS. “Easily on track for a well-deserved Oscar® nomination” according to Indiewire and produced by the company responsible WAITING FOR “SUPERMAN”, the documentary features Erin Brockovich and argues about our current water crisis that could be the central issue of our time.

Interestingly enough, the book was inspired over a bottle of French mineral water that Prud’homme shared with Julia Child over lunch. (Fun facts: He’s the grandnephew of Julia Child, co-author of her best-selling memoir “My Life in France” and the inspiration behind Seinfeld’s ‘Soup Nazi’.

Readers, have you read Alex Prud’homme’s work? We’ll be asking him a few questions so please add yours in the comments!

If you go: Tickets are $50 and are available online at Water Works Events. The moneys are going for a good cause: Proceeds will benefit the Interpretive Center’s Speaker Series in 2013.

Where: Fairmount Water Works Interpretative Center (640 Waterworks Drive, Phila, PA 19130)
