Philly Bike Expo 2013 Photo Recap

Hope you didn’t miss it: The Philly Bike Expo was this past weekend.

For bike lovers, this was THE place to be. As soon as I rolled up (pun intended) to the convention center, I was psyched to take my bike indoors for the free bike valet courtesy of Fuji Bikes & Neighborhood Bike Works. No lock needed for me!

Once I got to the expo floor, there were rows and rows of vendors with products from t-shirts, bike accessories, baskets, denim and much more.

Philly Bike Expo 2013: Photo Recap

Clothing company Pedal Pushers Club had a variety of city-based t’s to show your support for urban two-wheeled adventures. Don’t be mislead by the name: no membership needed.

I was excited to see an array of folding bikes. My good friend Chris moved up to Jersey City, ditched his car and picked up one of these puppies instead. They’re perfect for people who want to stash their bikes inside, commuters on trains or those without a ton of storage.

As I made my way across the expo, I signed up (officially) to be a member of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. Members support the awesome advocacy work BCGP does for Bike lanes and bikers’ rights. Plus, you get sweet discounts, meeting invites and free riding classes. If you didn’t join yet, you can always join online.

Another awesome company I found was Green Guru, based out of Boulder. They started to recycle sports gear that was typically discarded like road and bike tires, tubes and wetsuits, creating them into new useful products like bags, wallets & ankle straps. On top of the other items mentioned above, you can also send them your used gear for recycling. I ended up buying a wallet organizer and clutch for a hipster evening out.

Philly’s bike shops, tours and local services all were there to represent. Cute tees like this one from Fairmount Bicycles allowed you to show support for your fav shop.

Readers, did you check out the Philly Bike Expo? What was your favorite part?
