Trump & GOP Coming to PHL to Talk ACA – What You Can Do

For those of you who are still high off the Women’s March – or perhaps feeling FOMO from missing it, good news! The GOP & Trump are coming RIGHT to our ‘hood!

The deal

GOP House and Senate are hosting its annual retreat in Philadelphia, and #45 is expected to attend on Thursday. Their biggest topic of discussion? The repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

Beyond affecting 29 million Americans (yours truly included), this is detrimental.

What you can do.

#BlackOutForHealthcare is being organized by Malcolm Kenyatta. As Kenyatta said, he’s organizing in order “to have a unifying thing that everyone could do to show solidarity. As you well know people work, or have family commitments, or may be disabled but still want to have a way to make it clear they don’t approve of the GOP agenda.”

How to participate:

1) Wear black Wednesday and Thursday to mourn the lives that’ll be lost by the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Why black? As Kenyatta said, “to mourn the 40,000+ (according to WaPo) who would die if they repeal Obamacare as they plan.

2) Use the hashtag #blackoutforhealthcare to share how repeal will affect you and those you know

3) Join a protest or demonstration to give the GOP a “nice welcome”:www.phillywerise.com

#SHARE & Join the Facebook group.

Peaceful Protest

A peaceful protest is being planned for Thursday from 11 AM – 1 PM in Thomas Paine Plaza (15th & JFK). You can join the efforts online here in case of updates.
