Street cleaning begins, recycle old cables & Philly parks scored.

The latest sustainability news this week.

Philly officially launched its One Philly, A United City Citywide Cleaning Program this week. The program’s goal is to clean every neighborhood through August 26th. Track the city’s progress with data on the Office of Clean and Green’s website. Advocates like Circular Philadelphia are asking how the cleaning will last long-term without systemic solutions.

Have old cables or tech to recycle? Bring it to any Staples Store through June 10th and you’ll be eligible to win a “Cable” knit sweater vest, made from real cords/cables woven into the fabric. Talk about a statement piece!

Philadelphia ranked 32nd nationally for ParkScore® Index,?according to a report by the Trust of Public Land. Although 95% of Philadelphians live within a 10-minute walk of a park, the average park acreage measures 3.1 acres versus the national average of 5.4 acres.
