Newly completed Chester redevelopment project includes stormwater management & access to the riverfront

Engle Street project is an effort to revitalize the Chester Waterfront with the city and Delaware County

A new project in Chester County is connecting its residents with safer, quicker access to the local businesses and riverfront.

The Riverfront Alliance of Delaware County (RADC) in partnership with the City of Chester and Chester Economic Development Authority announced the completion of its Engle Street redevelopment project. Improvements in the project included street grading, upgraded stormwater management systems, pavement of the gravel roadway, and installation of curbs and sidewalks on the east side of the street.

Previously, the streetscape was a barrier for the residents of Chester and its waterfront riverwalk.

“The redevelopment of Engle Street is only the beginning of what we hope will be a long and prosperous undertaking to revitalize Chester’s waterfront,” said Lisa Gaffney, RADC executive director in a press release.

The Riverfront Alliance of Delaware County is one of only five organizations throughout Pennsylvania that is approved as a waterfront development organization. The organization includes organizations from the private sector and nonprofits to develop programs and activities to boost the Delaware County Waterfront.
