Quick Tip – Keep out the Cold & Drafts

Although Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, we still have a few days of cold left. How can you minimize that terrible energy bill in one of the coldest winters Philly has seen?

Drafts easily waste 5-30% of your energy use. How can you block these drafts?

  • Plug up door openings with either a rolled-up towel or “draft snake”.
  • Insulate windows with shrink film & seal gaps with caulking.
  • Install storm windows and doors to save up to 45% of energy
  • For long term warmth, invest in more efficient windows – The Energy Star seal helps you pick eco-friendly designs.
