Yogi Beginner’s Guide: 5 Reasons to Try Yoga

Want to find a way to glow from the inside out? Yoga is a great way to find inner peace and better yourself. Although it may feel like everyone else has gotten on the yoga bandwagon, it’s never too late to start.

No, yoga is just not a girly excuse for exercise, either. Yoga has some serious health benefits for men and women of all ages.

Here are 5 health benefits from practicing yoga:

  1. Better Sleep: We can all agree on the necessity of sleep in our lives. Practicing yoga and working on breathing techniques will give you a more peaceful slumber. It has been proven that those who practice yoga sleep easier.
  2. Relieves Stress: Yoga is a great way to take a step back from life’s challenges and ease your mind. It can even help people suffering anxiety or depression. Turning to different techniques of yoga to tame the inner darkness.
  3. Energy: For those who find themselves dozing off in the office or class, yoga can help boost your energy level and help you take on the day. It has been proven yoga will boost your mind and your mood!
  4. Boost Immune System: Yoga helps balance the nervous system. When the body is in balance, the immune system works its best to keep you from getting sick!
  5. Posture: This is one of my favorite benefits of yoga! No matter how tired I feel after a yoga session, I am always standing taller. Better posture brings off better confidence and allows you to radiate your true ‘self’.

Are you still not sure how you’re feeling about trying yoga? The good news is that there’s a different studio for every personality. Energy-boosting yoga is specifically designed to help you feel energized, while others focus more on relaxation or flexibility. Try new studios until you find the right one.

YouTube videos can also help you find your niche. Some of my personal favorites are from Plum TV and Connie Bowman.

Once you find the right one for you, another challenge is hot yoga, a perfect way to find your inner peace while getting ready for bikini season! Dana Hot Yoga is my personal favorite close to campus.

Readers, where are your favorite yoga studios?
