SUMMARY:Aquatic Saturday at the Discovery Center - Clever Critters!
DESCRIPTION:The Strawberry Mansion Lake has been here for decades\, let’s see what’s inside! Join Audubon Mid-Atlantic in observing and documenting this aquatic ecosystem as the seasons change. \nFor April 4th\, we’re focusing on our insect larvae and caring for their habitats. We’re using Leaf Packets to collect our aquatic macroinvertebrates\, sampling in different spots in the reservoir. Their presence can help us plan future habitat restoration. You’ll learn how to identify what we find\, and assist with planting native plants. Joining us is AMA Delaware River Watershed team\, and they’ll host a separate activity on the trail: showing us how to plant native bushes that can provide more habitat for our insects. \nThroughout the year\, you can try our rotating activities of exploring microorganisms and macroinvertebrate sampling during warmer weather. This community science data will be collected and utilized for future management. Kid-friendly activities are available like using children binoculars\, scavenger hunts\, arts and crafts (adult supervision is needed).
