SUMMARY:Winter Gulls at Glen Foerd
DESCRIPTION:Glen Foerd mansion sits along the Delaware River in the northeastern-most corner of Philly and is one of the best places in the city to study gulls during the winter. While there is no guarantee\, we are hoping to see a rare gull such as Iceland or Glaucous Gull. There should also be a good amount of waterfowl out on the river and we can discuss how to distinguish Double-crested Cormorants from the Great Cormorants that visit the area in winter.\n\nWe plan this as a stationary event overlooking the river\, but if folks want\, we can also explore the parkland surrounding the mansion.\nPlease dress according to the expected weather.\n\nWe will meet at 1 pm at the flagpole along the river. Folks can join at any point during the event. There is limited parking on-site and along the surrounding roads so please share a ride if you can. The location is also reachable by bus lines 19 and 84. The Torresdale regional rail station is a 15 min walk away.\n\nNo binoculars? No worries! Birding backpacks with binoculars and field guides are on loan at the following local Philly libraries: Andorra\, Cobbs Creek\, Cecil B. Moore\, Chestnut Hill\, Eastwick\, Falls of Schuylkill\, Fishtown\, Fox Chase\, Greater Olney\, Independence Library\, Logan\, Lovett Memorial\, Northeast Regional\, Oak Lane\, Parkway Central\, Richmond\, South Philly\, Torresdale\, West Philadelphia Regional\, and Widener.\n\nFor questions\, please reach out to birdphillywalks@gmail.com.\n\nTrip Leader: Holger Pflicke

SUMMARY:Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead
DESCRIPTION:Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead\n\n\nOur 550th Production\n\nBy Bert V. Royal\nDirected by Norman Burnosky\nJanuary 9th\, 10th\, 11th\, 16th\, 17th\, 18th\, 23rd\, 24th\, 25th\, 2026\nFriday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m.\, Sunday at 2:00 p.m.\n \nPurchase tickets\nWhen CB’s dog dies from rabies\, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid\, the target of this group’s bullying\, offers CB peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. \nWarning: Contains adult themes and adult language\, it is not suitable for young children. These donations support Philly Goat Project’s free year-round programming\, including community goat walks\, children’s literacy events in libraries & schools\, environmental education events throughout city parks\, youth job training programs\, animal-assisted therapy events\, and bereavement programming. \n\nDonated Christmas trees provide delicious snacks for the goats and what they don’t eat is turned into wood chips for trails in city parks and community gardens thanks to a partnership with the Philadelphia Sanitation Department. \nNew this year\, Philly Goat Project is partnering with Solar States\, a certified B-Corp with a dual mission to expand access to solar energy and educate the next generation of clean-energy workers. Through this partnership\, Solar States will cover the $20 donation of anyone who completes a solar consultation before the Tree-Cycle event they wish to attend. Interested participants can request a free solar quote at https://go.solar-states.com/goats/. Once the consultation is completed\, they will receive a voucher to present at the time of the tree donation. If they choose to move forward with Solar States services\, they’ll receive $400 off their installation and Solar States will donate an additional $400 to Philly Goat Project.
