Please join United by Blue, REI Conshohocken, and Friends of the Wissahickon for a cleanup of Wissahickon Creek and Devil’s Pool in celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day!
Before emptying into the Schuylkill River, Wissahickon Creek runs for 23 miles through Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties. Part of creek forms the Wissahickon Valley, a National Natural Landmark and part of the Fairmount Park system. The Wissahickon Creek is a treasure to many Philadelphians and visitors to the area, who are searching for an escape to nature, providing recreation for hiking, biking, and fishing. Devil’s Pool, a popular destination within the park, attracts swimmers and picnickers. Due to the park’s heavy recreational activity, and proximity to Philadelphia, trash collects in the creek and moves with with water. Please help us to clean up the Wissahickon Creek and Devil’s Pool to preserve the natural beauty of the Wissahickon Valley.
United by Blue will provide all of the cleanup supplies, and all volunteers will have the chance win United by Blue prizes. honeygrow will provide snacks for all volunteers, as well!
Please wear sturdy shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or wet.
