Rosine 2.0 in Practice

Rosine 2.0 has been dreaming into the future. After two years of collective learning, Rosine 2.0 – a community-driven art project rooted in Philadelphia – invites the public to Rosine 2.0 in Practice, a day of workshops and installations taking place in Philly’s Icebox Project Space on Saturday, March 18, from 2-6pm.

Through installations and workshops on radical harm reduction, grassroots healing, environmental justice, Black and brown histories, and abolitionist organizing, you will be invited to dream and imagine a world of community care and collective action in solidarity with Philadelphia’s drug users, sex workers, and unhoused communities.

The day features work by Philly artists and mutual aid and harm reduction organizations, including ACLU-PA & Naiymah Sanchez, Circle Keepers (Folami Irvine, Lillian Dunn, Pamela Draper), DecolonizePhilly, Generational Feasting (Sabriaya Shipley, Rosie Morales), Homies Helping Homies, Elaine Lopez & Nightshade, Dont Rhine, MadEcologies.com & Project SAFE, What Heals You? (Yema Rosado, Zissel Aronow). Free workshops will be running all day, each hosted by a different community group.

• 2:15-3:30pm – join 5th-generation African-American herbalist Folami Irvine, somatic healing practitioner Lillian Dunn, and music therapist Pamela Draper for a session on Community Care & Herbalism.
• 3:30-4:45pm – Black youth organizers Keyssh and Essence of DecolonizePhilly will be facilitating The Reimaging Series: The Fight for a Land Revolution, a community discussion that focuses on the environmental justice crises in Philadelphia.
• 4:45-6:00pm – “Philadelphia Principles”, led by MadEcologies.com and Kensington-based/sex worker focused organization Project SAFE. The group will explore questions such as “What does radical harm reduction stand for?”, “What does radical harm reduction fight to change?”, and “What does radical harm reduction envision for the world?”

Other offerings include a Community Photo Day hosted by Point Breeze-based mutual aid organization Homies Helping Homies. The group will be providing free professional photography, including headshots and family photos, to all. Philadelphia artists Sabriaya Shipley and Rosie Morales, along with five youth artists, are documenting the inter-generational history of Black & brown communities by building their own table of community stories in audio, visual, and written form. The project, titled Generational Feasting is expanding on Nina Simone’s quote, ‘You have to learn to get up from the table when love is no longer being served,” As an interactive installation piece, community members will be invited to bring their generational stories to the table as well. What Heals You?, created by sex educator and therapist Yema Rosado and curator of Baby Tooth and Feminist Flea Zissel Aronow, is the debut exhibition of a series of film portraits and interviews highlighting Philly healers, harm reductionists, activists, and organizers.

Attendees will also be able to leave with various publications including the project’s companion volume Rosine 2.0: Futures and Histories of Collective Care, as well as community-created zines and print materials on harm reduction and the experiences of Philadelphia-based sex workers.

Copies of the publications will be available for free at all Rosine 2.0 public events.

If you still want more, there will be an afterparty at Icebox from 6-8pm with music from Philadelphia’s beloveds, Sam Rise (joyful community organizer) and DJ Love (curator of CUNTY PHL), along with free food and drink from The People’s Kitchen.
